In silence among a sea of words
two hearts connect.
With subtle touches and furtive glances
2 minds reflect on desires surrounded by the taboo.
Proceeding with caution yet throwing it to the wind,
Our time together was a living and breathing contradiction.
Needing no validation
but the emotion being conjured and strengthened
with every step taken.
Guilt was forsaken while infatuation reawakened
and selfishness embraced.
The future will be faced but we live in the now.
Don't look forward, don't look back,
this present is yours for the taking.
Temperatures rise as temperatures drop
and neither river nor stream can cool them.
Though surrounded by many, few exist
when twilight propels two into suspended animation.
Water, it is no concern
when drowning in eyes of ebony.
The sun's light fades and darkness relieves us.
Raindrops tease us, but
we provide the shelter.
The path before us is for you to choose.
Someone will win, and someone may lose, but
regret is not an option.
With a dance of flesh under a moonlit sky
anticipation lifts.
One heart may be broken,
but two are fulfilled
and neither wonders
what if?
